• regular participation of representatives of the Association of Ukrainian Cities in the work of committees and commissions of Verkhovna Rada - the Parliament of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers;
• meetings of the members of the Board of the Association with the Prime Minister of the country;
• meetings of the leadership of the Association with the leadership of the ministries to discuss and resolve current problems in the relevant fields of activity;
• preparation and utilization of a more adaptive and successful set of tools for advocacy on specific positions before central government;
• efforts are made for broader involvement of the national and regional mass media in covering the problems of municipal development and informing the public on the development of local government reform.

Assistance in changing and improving the legal framework in the field of local government:

• collecting and summarizing proposals made by the municipalities for improvement of local government legal framework. Development on this basis of views and proposals on drafts of statutory documents.
• organizing development of own drafts for legislation on issues outside the scope of the competent authorities but of special importance to municipalities;
• providing for the activities of the specialized committees of Verkhovna Rada - the Parliament of Ukraine;
• holding of conferences on topical issues.

Developing statements and proposals on the part of the state budget law and their adoption by the competent state authorities:

• proposals and recommendations of the AUC to the government of Ukraine and Budget Committee of Verkhovna Rada;
• holding of public hearings in cities.
Information exchange and assistance to members in exercising their powers:
• maintenance and use of a computer data base for the members of the Association of Ukrainian Cities;
• present activities of the AUC in Internet;
• issuance of expert information on current issues and events;
• publishing of thematic collections of standard acts on issues of local government bodies powers in the field of budget, finances, prices, communal property management, building, land relations, etc.
• improvement of the coordination of cooperation with the press-services of the cities;
• collection, analysis and dissemination of positive municipal practices.

Support of the municipal programs:

• assistance to cities in development of specific programs concerning improvement of cities infrastructure and attraction of foreign investments;
• participation and organization of exhibitions and fairs;
• creation of business centers in cities.

Training and professional development of municipal personnel:

• Preparation and publication of methodological literature and other materials related to the topic;
• Organizing and holding of the seminars, conferences and round tables;
• Encouraging of educational centers network creation at the Academy of Municipal Management.
