The Verkhovna Rada web site published the Draft Law “On Public Oversight over the Use and Protection of Lands” (#9656).  The document was prepared by the AUC experts within the framework of the Legislation Framework of the DIALOGUE Project according to the identified legislation drafting priorities.

The purpose of the Draft Law is to ensure the proper legal environment for public oversight over the use of lands.  The document offers a clear and straightforward mechanism for public participation in streamlining land relations.

The current legislation envisions central and local government control, as well as public oversight over the use and protection of lands.  However, the law provides only for the central government control mechanisms, whereas in reality, there is no relevant public oversight in the country because the latter does not have the appropriate legal framework.
