Local Government Regional Advisory Board in Chernihiv

FEBRUARY 16, the Project conducted a working session of the Chernihiv Local Government Regional Advisory Board. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the key issues of the financial support to and peculiarities of managing land resources and communal property in cities and towns. A.Melnyk, Chairman of the Chernihiv Oblast Council, chaired the meeting. City and town mayors, representatives of the Oblast State Administration represented the participants of the event.

The issues in the agenda included the following:

- financial support to local budgets;

- utilisation of the investment potential in cities;

- imperfect mechanisms of the state registration of lease agreements and issuing land plot ownership certificates;

- key issues of communal property management.

A.Melnyk, Chairman of the Chernihiv Oblast Council, mentioned that the “activities of the Local Government Regional Advisory Board is an excellent opportunity to harmonise the positions of the state executive and local governments to meet the interests of territorial communities”.

During the discussion, V.Khomenko, Head of the Chernihiv Oblast State Administration mentioned: “The purpose of the joint work of the Oblast State Administration, other state executive agencies and local governments is to accomplish the tasks of the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers, implement the Economic Reform Program and other projects to meet the interests of territorial communities and citizens of the Chernihiv oblast in all areas of the social life”.

Following the discussion, the Project held a meeting of the Regional Press Club for local media representatives.
