FEBRUARY 8,    the parliament approved the Resolution “On Introducing a Moratorium on Closing State-Owned and Communally-Owned Cultural Establishments in Rural Areas”(#7161). The document prohibits closing state-owned and communally-owned cultural establishments in rural areas for the period till 2015.

National Deputies tasked the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to improve the financial support for state-owned and communally-owned cultural establishments and improve purchases of literature for rural library stock.

In 2012, the local budget expenditures to support the implementation of the authority delegated by the central government to local governments in the Culture and Arts sector have been fully earmarked in the State Budget. This has been achieved thank to the actions of the AUC in the preparation of the State Budget and its local government advocacy.
