January 13,    the web site of the President of Ukraine published the information about the President veto on the Law “On Amending the Land and Forest Codes of Ukraine Concerning the Preservation of Forests” (#8489).  The Law was approved by the parliament on December 22, 2011.

In particular, the Law originally envisioned the right of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to administer lands (forests) within the boundaries of populated areas prior to the delineation of boundaries between State-Owned and communally-owned lands. According to the Constitution of Ukraine, this right belongs to local governments.
