Additional peculiarities of the municipality:
Located in the far east of Dnipropetrovsk region bordering Donetsk region, Mezhova municipality consists of 30 localities housing over 14,000 residents and 1,700 internally displaced persons. Its economy, traditionally driven by micro and small agricultural service businesses and the major Vovchansk titanium-zirconium mining deposit, has faced severe disruption due to proximity to the front line. Formally classified as an active hostilities zone in June 2025, the municipality continues to manage a budget financing 60 socio-cultural institutions despite ongoing combat challenges. Demonstrating high institutional readiness, Mezhova was among the first in Ukraine to adopt a comprehensive territorial recovery programme and is actively working on the implementation of strategic reconstruction projects.
