In 2015, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) awarded Rivne with The European Diploma. In 2020, we were awarded The Flag of Honour and in 2023 the city was awarded with The Plaque of Honour.
Rivne municipality already has experience with the Interreg NEXT programme – four projects have been completed, and two more have just started. These are: "Fire-Resistant and Waterproof" – a cooperation project between the civil protection services of Lublin and Rivne, and another one focused on developing sewage infrastructure and improving wastewater management in Rivne and Lublin.
We are also starting cooperation with the European Investment Bank. We are supporting two loan projects. The goal is to carry out deep energy modernization of public buildings – two schools, a maternity hospital, and a kindergarten. Work on one of these projects began last month.
In addition, we have a long-standing partnership with the NEFCO corporation. It has started in 2016. If I remember correctly, we have completed four projects – some funded with grants, some with loans.
These include energy modernization of public buildings, installation of renewable energy sources like photovoltaics panels, saving public funds, reducing CO₂ emissions, and strengthening international partnerships – all of these are now among our community’s priorities.
During the third call of the Interreg Europe programme in 2024, the Rivne community joined two partner consortia of two projects "Runway to Carbon Neutrality: Involvement of Business Communities in Climate Strategies" (CLIBUS) and
"European Urban Exchanging Knowledge on Climate Neutrality" (EUREKA). In 2025 Rivne municipality has started the implementation of these projects.
