Additional peculiarities of the municipality:
Mykolaiv, the administrative center of Mykolaiv region, is a primary industrial, logistical, and scientific hub in southern Ukraine, situated 60 km from the Black Sea with a population of nearly 470,000.
The municipality’s economy is anchored in mechanical engineering, food processing, energy, IT, and the maritime economy, supported by a highly skilled engineering workforce.
Despite its frontline status, the local administration demonstrates top-tier institutional capacity. It is actively executing a sustainable post-war recovery strategy focused on climate neutrality, digital transformation, and critical infrastructure modernisation.
The municipality is a highly experienced partner in administering international technical and financial assistance. It cooperates with 50 global organisations (including GIZ, UNDP, JICA, and UNOPS), works closely with major international financial institutions (EBRD, EIB, World Bank, NEFCO), and maintains 30 twin-city partnerships worldwide, offering a transparent, high-readiness platform for large-scale green and infrastructural investments.
