Additional peculiarities of the municipality:

The Polohy municipality is located in the northeastern part of Zaporizhzhia region. The administrative center of the community is the city of Polohy, situated in the central area of the region on the left bank of the Konka River. Polohy is a strategically important railway hub connecting the industrial regions of Donbas and Berdiansk, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro. Within a radius of approximately 100 km from the community’s center lie the cities of Zaporizhzhia and Berdiansk, providing access to the coastline and the port of the Sea of Azov. The community is crossed by national highways T0815 and T0803 (Zaporizhzhia–Mariupol).

The Polohy municipality borders the following communities: Huliaipole, Fedorivka, Voskresenka, Smyrnove, Chernihivka, Tokmak, and Malotokmachka.

Economically, the municipality is characterized by a diversified economy, with an emphasis on agriculture and industry. The dominant industrial sectors include food processing, mining, and chemicals, which are the main exporters of local production.

Since March 3, 2022, the territory of the municipality has been temporarily occupied. The Polohy City Council and the Polohy City Military Administration are currently operating from the city of Zaporizhzhia. Over 70% of the community’s population has relocated to Ukrainian-controlled territories or abroad. In the city of Zaporizhzhia, there are 8,118 internally displaced persons from the community, including 1,880 children.

The Polohy City Military Administration ensures the provision of educational, administrative, social, and other services for internally displaced persons from the Polohy community. An education hub, Administrative Services Center, Children’s Services, Business Support and Development Center, and a sewing workshop are operating in Zaporizhzhia. Special attention is paid to supporting veterans of the Polohy municipality, working with young people, providing housing for internally displaced persons.
