Zaporizhzhia is the fifth largest city in Ukraine with a population of approximately 782,000 people, including 153,000 internally displaced persons. The city covers an area of 334 km² and is located on both banks of the Dnipro River, home to Khortytsia Island — the largest river island in Ukraine (23.5 km²). It is a major industrial center with over 290 enterprises in metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and energy. Zaporizhzhia functions as a key transport and logistics hub for central, eastern, and southern Ukraine. In 2024, the city’s transparency score rose from 36.7% to 63%, placing it 12th among 100 Ukrainian municipalities — the highest improvement recorded. The 2024 annual budget of the city territorial community amounts to UAH 8.47 billion.
